A global survey by Philips has revealed staffing shortages and financial challenges are negatively impacting patient care in healthcare. Clinicians and leaders believe AI automation can address these challenges, but adoption varies widely worldwide.
Despite positive sentiment towards virtual care, data is crucial to overcoming the gap between hope and reality.
At HLTH Europe, Philips’ launches its ninth Future of Health Index Report 2024, shining a light on the attitudes and actions of the healthcare industry’s approach to technology from 3,000 healthcare leaders.
The report’s findings show that 92% believe AI will help ease the current burdens, 85% of these leaders plan to invest in AI tools to help address staffing shortages and insights gaps, whilst currently 89% state that virtualisation has already had a positive impact.
However, 87% share concerns around data bias and 59% are delaying investing in MedTech due to the current financial challenges at play.
Shez Partovi, Chief Innovation and Strategy Officer at Philips, said: “Here at Philips, when we converse with customers and health systems, they say ‘Take away the administrative burdens and give me AI automation’. Care means productivity. These leaders are looking for productivity and are asking for tools which establish the shortage in the technology being applied.”
